Get Ready for Netball in 2020

Netball is a very popular sport with both girls and boys participating at all levels. We have been fielding school teams in our local league and are looking to grow this popular sport with our students and in our community.

With a new season of netball fast approaching we are starting to get ready for action! We are hoping to put together teams at Years 4, 5 and 6 and are looking for players and their motivated parent to get involved! Here's what you need to know:

Parent/caregiver responsibilities:
By joining a team, players commit to attending all training sessions and games. Parents/caregivers must ensure their child attends trainings unless they are sick AND must transport their child to and from the games at Windmill Park, Mt Eden. Timely communication with team managers around any absences is essential.

Parent coaches and managers
Every team needs a parent coach and manager – we simply can't field a team without volunteers for these roles. No netball experience is necessary, just the time and desire to support the team. Details of coaching courses run by Auckland Netball Association can be found here.  Please contact mandy@maps.school.nz if you are interested.

Pre-season training sessions (1-1.45pm at school)
Monday 16th March – Year 4's
Thursday 19th March – Year 5's
Friday 20th March – Year 6's
Please ensure your child attends so that we can place them in a team.

We are hoping to have all teams finalised by Monday 30th March.
Training will begin for teams once we have secured a coach and manager for each team.  It will be up to the coach and team as to when training sessions will be held.

Registration and fees
Please complete this registration form for your child. The deadline for registration is Friday 20th March. Fees should be paid online at the school shop. The fees are as follows:
Year 4: $70
Year 5 and 6: $90
Fees include: team registration, prize giving, equipment and uniforms. The Year 5 and 6 fee also includes the cost of umpires (supplied by Auckland Netball).Children will not be able to participate until both the registration form and the fees have been received.

We are looking forward to a fabulous season of netball this year and with so many new players on board it will be a great learning curve for many!
