The Mt Albert Primary School Board invites applications from parents who wish to enrol their sons and daughters at Mt Albert Primary School for Terms 1,2,3 and 4 of 2020. The following places are likely to be available for out of zone students.
Year 0/1 25 places
Year 2 5 places
Year 3 5 places
Year 4 5 places
The deadline for receipt of applications for out of zone places is 4pm Wednesday 15th October 2019. Out of zone application forms can be collected from the school office: 6 Sainsbury Road, Mt Albert, Auckland (between 8.00am - 3.15pm). The ballot if necessary will be held on Tuesday 22nd October 2019.
Parents of students who live within the home zone should also apply by this date to assist the school to plan appropriately for next year. Students who live in the home zone are entitled to enrol at the school. The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s home zone.
Applications from out of zone students will be processed in priority order and details of these are outlined below. If the number of out of zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot.
Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.
First Priority. This priority category is not applicable at this school because the school does not run a Special programme approved by the Secretary.
Second Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
Third Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
Fourth Priority will be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
Fifth Priority will be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
Sixth Priority will be given to all other applicants.
If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth, or fifth priority groups than there are spaces available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G (1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in the community newspaper (Central Leader) circulating in the area served by the school. Applicants seeking second or third priority status may be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
If accepted, an appointment will be made to meet with the Principal to complete the enrolment process.
